Their reputation to the contrary, the Marple Commissioners really can hold a quick meeting.
Needing just a little more than an hour, the board reorganized, Jan. 3, for the coming year. In all but one instance, the decisions were unanimous.
The commissioners reappointed the following for one-year terms: Township Manager Tony Hamaday, Township Secretary Sharon Angelaccio, Township Solicitor Adam Matlawski, Zoning Board Solicitor Sandy Liberatori, of Whelan, Doyle & Pressman, Police Surgeon Michael Baio MD, Fire Marshal Jim Capuzzi, Assistant Fire Marshals Carl Drake and Kerby Kerber, Emergency Management Coordinator Jan Ceton and Deputy Emergency Management Coordinators Jim Castaldi and Karen Standen.
In the only disputed vote of the evening, the board moved 5-2, Ceton (R-2) and John Longacre (R-5) dissenting, to appoint Joe Mastronardo, of Pennoni Assoc., Inc., as Township Engineer and Jamie MacCombie, of Herbert E. MacCombie Jr. PC, as Alternate Engineer. The men held the opposite posts for the last two years. MacCombie will be asked to complete existing projects and represent Marple in future proceedings in the event of a conflict.
The board appointed June Costello, Betty Deaver, Ruth Dieterle, Pat DiRosa, June Dowd, Joan Kelly, Shirley Law, Stella McGlone, Ginny Popper, Virginia Rice and Mary Strzelecki, to one-year terms on the Senior Citizens Commission. The group is not limited to those who were named and the commissioners encourage other residents to become involved.
The board appointed Patty Steger to the Ordinance Committee, reappointed Bill Harvey to the Vacancy Committee, reappointed Carmella Cichetti and Fran Leiter to the Ethics Committee and reappointed Sam Mayer as township representative to the Crum Creek and Darby Cobbs watershed partnerships. All will serve one-year terms.

Barrett Missett to the Pension Advisory Committee; reappointments of Joe Grande, Fred Haid, Bill Moro, Kent Nixon, Bob Small and Bob Woll and appointment of John Capuzzi Jr. to the Paxon Hollow Advisory Committee and reappointment of Bill Creighton and Kurt Lindelow as non-uniform and police pension trustees, respectively. The Park and Recreation Board included the appointments of Michael Hill, Joe Mariano, Jake Redding and Tony Vetrokowski and reappointments of Domenic Durante and Patricia Schlater. Vetrokowski will fill the unexpired term of Joe Rufo (R-1), which will end Dec. 31, 2012.
The commissioners also appointed Michael Larkin and reappointed Jim Berger to the Leisure Services Commission; appointed William Chertok, Dennis Glancy, Sam Mayer, Susan Miller and Krzysztof Wroblewski to the Environmental Advisory Commission; appointed Jeannine Conner and reappointed Steve Curson and Michelle Montgomery to the Library Board and appointed Nancy Ricca and Mike Scarani to the Property Maintenance Code Board of Appeals. All will serve three-year terms with the exception of Scarani, who will fill an unexpired term to end Dec. 31, 2012.
